ISKSAA SPORTSMED FELLOWSHIP AT ADELAIDE AUSTARLIA FROM 13/03/2016 TO 28/03/2016
I am extremely thankful to Dr. LalitMaini ,Dr.Pushpinder Bajaj and entire ISKSAA team for considering us for this fellowship. It was a wonderful experience overall for us.
Myself (Dr.Yashavanth Kumar C) and Dr. Sharad Jain from Meerut we had successfully completed the above fellowship . We both together landed in Adelaide on March 12. Dr Nick Wallwork had booked a beautiful 2 balcony room suit accommodation for us at Watson Hospital. We were warmly received by the hotel staff and had a wonderful beginning.
Dr. Nick Wallwork was gracious to pick us every day morning to the hospital and would drop us back to the hotel. Dr. Nick use to have three out patient clinics and and three theatres every week. We could see various varieties of upperlimb surgeries during this time. We could see around 45 surgeries during this time. Upper limb surgeries included all spectrum of surgeries including arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs, Total and reverse shoulder replacements, labral repairs surgeries, Nerve entrapment surgeries, Finger replacement surgeries etc. In between these cases we could able to see lower limb surgeries in parallel theatres.
It was a great experience with Dr. Nick in clinics about clinical diagnosis , decision making and patient counseling for surgeries. Weekly once Dr. Nick use to take us for clinics in Noarlunga(Adelaide suburbs) . We also attended clinical meetings for problem case discussions in the morning.
We also had done a small retrospective study on management of Glenoid Dysplasia and same has been submitted to Journal of Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (Manuscript ID: JAJS-D-16-00017)
Apart from great academic experience we could also see most of the tourist spots around Adelaide. Among the places visited were Adelaide ZOO, Adelaide Oval, Adelaide Hills, Cleland park (Kangaroos and Koalas) ,Glenelg and Christie Beeches etc. Shopping at Adelaide central business district was amazing experience.
Hats off to Dr. Nick Wallwork for the hospitality shown to us. Apart from accomodation he took care of our food at hospital. He also spared his valuable time to take us for lunch and dinner on different occasions. He also took us to his on final day of fellowship. It was wonderful fellowship from beginning to the end with out any problems. Truly loved it.
Long live ISKSAA
Yours sincerely
