"ISKSAA WRIGHTINGTON TRAVELLING SHOULDER FELLOWSHIP UK (2 weeks, April 2017) under DR LENNARD FUNK " report-
I am highly obliged to ISKSAA for providing me opportunity as upper limb surgery fellowship at Wrightington hospital UK, under renowned surgeon Dr Lennard Funk.
Every part of this journey from getting selected in fellowship, getting passport, visa, travelling, stay in UK was an absolutely different & wonderful experience. As we landed in London, greeted by very cold weather as it was hot summer in India. We used to stay at Manchester city,used to visit hospital by trains. Wrightington hospital is situated in very pleasant stretch of open countryside.Wrightington hospital stated as center of excellence in orthopaedic surgery as first ever hip replacement operations done by pioneer surgeon Sir John Charnley at Wrightington hospital.
2 weeks fellowship programme was organised& well planned, that there were always someone in upper limb unit who guided you in OTs, Clinics. I had opportunity to observe 15-20 shoulder surgery and exposure in shoulder replacements,scopy everyday. DrLennardFunk is very kind person, surgeon with great skills and very helpful, friendly to his fellows. Iam thankful to Prof Raj Murali sir for giving me opportunity to attandMChclasses. The upper limb unit is very supportive, special thanks to DrPuneetMonga, DrWalton and all. ISKSAA gave me opportunity to visit another renowedsugeonDrSanjeevAnand at Leeds hospital, where I got exposure in hip arthroscopy also.
We had a tour to beautiful London city, London bridge, British museum, Madam Tussaud wax museum, lake district, Manchester football club on weekends. Overall ISKSAA WRIGHTINGTON fellowship was a wonderful and lifetime experience personally as well as professionally.
