I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to complete a two-week fellowship in arthroscopy and arthroplasty under the exceptional mentorship of Dr. Jatinder Singla sir and Dr. Sandeep Gupta sir at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali. I had the privilege of witnessing and assisting in a diverse range of cases, including total knee replacements, partial knee replacement, revision surgeries, hip replacements, knee and shoulder arthroscopy and trauma cases as well. Dr. Singla’s Mid vastus/Sub vastus approach to knee surgeries was an eye-opening learning experience and was complemented by the inspiring postoperative outcomes. My highlight of this fellowship was partial knee replacement which was a first for me and seeing the outcomes gave me a new direction. His dedication to teaching ensured that all my questions, however basic, were answered with sincerity, both in the operating room and the outpatient department. Sir made sure to explain each and every step intra-operatively in detail complimented by the reasoning behind the decisions and steps. The teachings were so extensive that it gave me the confidence to take on challenging cases and start partial knee replacements in my own practice.

Apart from the surgical skills, Dr Singla made sure I was involved in preoperative assessment and planning of all patients. I learnt the importance of thorough radiological assessment and interpretation of the data for surgical planning and approach towards the surgery. Post-operatively I learnt multimodal pain relief protocols and witnessed the beauty of a mid/sub vastus approach in rehabilitation of patients first hand.

This fellowship under Dr. Jatinder Singla and Dr. Sandeep Gupta was a thoroughly nourishing experience and helped me gain numerous tips and tricks and knowledge that I will be applying in my day to day practice towards patient care.
