I, Dr. Prateek Patil would like to thank the ISKSAA team for providing me the opportunity to undergo fellowship training in shoulder & sports injury under Dr. AshishBabulkar for two weeks.A special thanks to Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj sir & Dr. LalitMainisir for their support and help in organizing this fellowship program.

I would alsolike to thank Dr. Ashish Babulkarsir for his valuable time in making sure that my fellowship training was to be a valuable learning experience. I contacted Dr. Ashish Bhabhulkar, after I had been informed about the fellowship allotment in January 2017. Sir was grateful enough to provide me with a slot in February 2017 at such a short notice.

I reached DeenanathMangeshkar hospital on the morning of 20^th January and was amazed by the huge hospital campus. I was directed towards the sports medicine department at the institute. I met Dr.Ashish Bhabhulkar in the shoulder & sports medicine OPD. He had a weekly schedule of alternate day OPDs and OTs in the department.

The OPDs were busy with an average of 60 to 70 patients per day, giving the fellows an exposure to a variety of conditions in shoulder pathology & surgery. The operation theatres were scheduled from 8 in the morning to usually 4 in the evening, with 8 to 10 cases being operated on an average. The OTs at the institute were ‘’State of the art”, functioning proficiently to cater to the large case load.

I was also provided with an opportunity to attend the famed “Shoulder conclave”, which is an international level conference, held annually at Pune under the leadership of Dr. Ashish Bhabhulkar Sir. I consider myself lucky to be in Pune during this extravaganza.

I have been lucky enough to watch and learn the skills of shoulder arthroscopy and arthroplasty from an experienced hand. Dr. Ashish Bhabhulkar sir is a great surgeon andenthusiasticteacher to educate the younger generations. It was an enriching experience. I am sure that this fellowship will be of great help in my career.

I would like to mention that the efforts put in by ISKSAA team, in training the young orthopedic surgeons by organizing the various courses and fellowship programs, deserve a huge applause. I hope and wish that this trend keeps on continuing. I strongly recommend this fellowship to all.
