ISKSAA LANCASHIRE UK TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2025
Respected Sir,
I am profoundly grateful to Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj and Dr. Lalit Maini for granting me the privilege of being selected for the esteemed ISKSAA UK Lancashire Travelling Fellowship. It was an honour to pursue this fellowship at the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital under the distinguished mentorship of Professor Dr. Makaram Srinivasan.
Most of the short term fellowships are just observership, whearas this fellowship provided unique opportunity to scrub and assist for the cases as the first assistan
This fellowship proved to be an exceptional academic and clinical experience. The well-structured healthcare model, coupled with the advanced infrastructure and high clinical load, provided an immersive exposure to diverse orthopaedic practices. Being able to observe and scrub in a wide spectrum of arthroplasty and arthroscopic procedures significantly enriched my understanding of surgical planning, execution, and precision. The opportunity to learn shoulder arthroplasty techniques from highly experienced faculty was particularly invaluable.I also had the opportunity to assist CMC joint , PIP joint replacement , Radial head replacement and wide variety of upper limb cases . The unique point about this fellowship is Dr Srinivasan markram and his team of surgeons are very welcoming so u choose whichever cases u wanna scrub on that particular day and go for that cases.
My time in the outpatient departments further deepened my appreciation for the NHS referral pathways, continuity of care, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Witnessing the seamless coordination between teams enhanced my perspective on delivering comprehensive and holistic patient care—an approach I intend to integrate into my future practice.
Beyond the clinical environment, exploring Scotland, London and Manchester added a meaningful cultural dimension to the fellowship. The warmth and hospitality extended by Professor Srinivasan, the faculty members, and the entire team made the experience memorable on both a professional and personal level.
This fellowship has significantly broadened my clinical vision, refined my surgical judgement, and strengthened my commitment to academic growth. I extend my sincere thanks to Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj, Dr. Lalit Maini, Professor Dr. Makaram Srinivasan, and the ISKSAA organising committee for offering me this remarkable opportunity that will undoubtedly influence my career for years to come.
