I would like to share my experience as a Clinical Fellow at the ISKSAA Fellowship program at the Centre for Sports Injury (CSI), New Delhi, under the mentorship of Dr. Pushpinder Singh Bajaj.

The fellowship at CSI offered a distinctive learning environment focused on the management of elite and professional patients, including competitive sportspersons. The clinical exposure emphasized precision, individualized surgical planning, and outcome-oriented care. During my tenure, I had the opportunity to be involved in the care of national-level athletes, including members of the Indian national rugby team.

Dr. Bajaj’s mentorship was instrumental in shaping my approach to advanced sports injury management. His ability to break down complex arthroscopic procedures—particularly primary and revision ACL reconstructions, BPTB graft techniques, and shoulder stabilization surgeries—provided invaluable surgical insight. Each case was approached with a strong emphasis on biomechanics, graft selection, and long-term functional outcomes rather than procedural volume.

The fellowship also strengthened my clinical decision-making through focused discussions on patient evaluation, imaging interpretation, and evidence-based perioperative protocols. Exposure to advanced MRI applications, including dynamic studies, enhanced my understanding of their role in surgical planning. Regular interaction with the physiotherapy team reinforced the importance of structured rehabilitation and return-to-sport strategies.

A notable highlight of my fellowship was participation as an on-field orthopaedic doctor at the World Para Athletics Championship 2025, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI). This experience provided valuable insight into real-time injury management and the unique orthopedic considerations in para-athletes.

I am deeply grateful to Dr. Pushpinder Singh Bajaj and the entire CSI team for their mentorship, academic rigor, and continued support. This fellowship has significantly contributed to my professional growth, and I would strongly recommend it to orthopedic surgeons seeking focused training in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery.
