ISKSAA ABERDEEN 2016 FELLOWSHIP TESTIMONIAL
“ Dear Dr. Bajaj, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend the Short Term Observership at Aberdeen, UK. It was a very well organised effort from your side as well as the team in Aberdeen. It enabled me to observe surgeries of my interest and interact with great surgeons and academicians. Was looked after very well and hope that many more surgeons benefit from this great academic opportunity. I had a great two weeks in Aberdeen and have upgraded my skills and widened my repertoire.Yours Truly.”
I must express the value this fellowship brought to my life. It is inspirational because one gets opportunity to be with - Dr Kapil Kumar, a very skilful, humble, passionate and excited to show and teach you all about shoulder. What he teaches helps improve your skills not just during the course but beyond.
Woodend Hospital, Aberdeen is a great hospital catering to a wide spectrum of patients. I was fortunate to witness many Arthroscopic Shoulder Cuff repairs, Shoulder Instability cases, Arthroscopic SLAP repairs, Shoulder replacement, Reverse shoulder replacement, total hip replacement, total knee replacement and many more. I also accompanied Dr Kapil Kumar to Albyn Hospital which is a located at city centre once every week.
If shoulder is what you desire to specialise in, then Dr Kumar is the best master one can possibly get. His passion for work showed throughout the course; each day was packed with pivotal lessons. I witnessed his expertise in shoulder arthroscopy. All observation sessions were loaded with nuggets of wisdom from Kumar’s personal experiences regarding patient’s management. Was also granted the opportunity to observe other eminent personalities of Woodend Hospital, who were all so welcoming and passionate teachers, readily answering even basic questions with a smile. Working with so many different surgeons made our experience rich and wholesome.
A super specialised panel of surgeons, dedicated team of assistants, cheerful staff, work environment promoting personal and professional growth for one and all – that is what Woodend Hospital is all about. This fellowship helps you cultivate good work culture habits and gives you an insight on how to manage your own practice efficiently.
Dr. Kumar helped me clear my doubts and I hope that I can be more confident in my approach now. He was a great host and even invited us over for a dinner at his house which was a great gesture considering his busy schedule. I had time to visit nearby places of interest (and Dr. Kumar was a good guide) and even London over the weekend to visit some friends.
I thank the ISKSAA organisers and Dr. Kumar for their efforts and I know I can look upon him for any doubts I may face in future..
Regards,
