Thank you for selecting me for the prestigious ISKSAA Birmingham Patellofemoral Travelling Fellowship April 2026.

I along with my colleague Dr Kunal did our Travelling fellowship in Royal Orthopaedic hospital in Birmingham which is one of the largest elective Orthopaedic surgery centres in UK.

The fellowship's primary focus was patellofemoral pathology under the guidance of our mentor, Mr. Tanveer Ashraf, who is an authority on the subject. I had the opportunity to observe a wide range of patellofemoral procedures and broaden my horizon of knowledge in this particular field. It was an enriching experience both in Operation Theatre and Outpatient clinics to learn from the master himself. Evidence based discussions, protocols-based treatment, diagnostic rationale helped me to sharpen my surgical skills and got an opportunity to witness cutting edge technology used in the management of patient care. I was fortunate to learn navigation-based Hip Arthroplasty, Robotic TKR and Robotic UKR.

This opportunity provided me a platform to share experience and learn from the stalwarts which refined my global perspective of patient care. I would be failing if I don’t express my heartfelt thanks to the entire team with whom we got a chance to interact and learn and who made our stay comfortable. The unwavering support of Sr Clinical fellow Dr Kunal was tremendous and welcoming. I would like to acknowledge Dr Akash Sharma and Dr Giebaly for sharing their pearls of wisdom with us.

Apart from gaining knowledge it was a very enriching experience to explore the beautiful city of Birmingham and cultural heritage of United Kingdom.

It was a short period of learning with lifetime of experience and I would surely replicate the practises in my clinical field.

This fellowship is highly recommended if an Orthopaedic surgeon wants to learn maximum in minimum period of time.
