ISKSAA ABERDEEN 2015 FELLOWSHIP
First of all I would like to thank ISKSAA for granting me fellowship to Aberdeen.
Aberdeen fellowship is coordinated by MrKapil Kumar. He is not only a great shoulder surgeon but also a pleasant and warm person. I had to change my dates of fellowship two times due to visa issues, but he was very helpful and always allowed to change the dates. But after reaching there i came to know that he is arranging his list in such a way that we can get to see lots of different cases. So changing dates causes him difficulty and we are not able to see good cases.
I reached Aberdeen on 23rd October and was there till November 5th. Mr Kumar had arranged a lot of good shoulder cases for me to watch. As i told him that i wanted to see lower limb arthroplasty, he also arranged same for me. I also attended OPD with him and saw him examining patients with shoulder and upper limb complaints and planing the treatment for them. He is a very good clinician. I learned a lot of tips from him in managing patients with upper limb complaints. He cleared all my doubts with utmost interest even if its a simple one.
I stayed in the staff home of the hospital. There i met the long term fellows DrAbhinandan and Dr. Samart Mittal. They were very helpful for me. I enjoyed my stay and never felt alone and away from home. They took me to the movie and also for shopping. Also special mention to the anesthesia fellow Dr Hem Kumar and DrKeerthi , a Gynaec Consultant, who also were there. I had a great time in Aberdeen.
My advise for next fellows is to fix your dates atleast 2 months ahead and apply for visa well ahead so the you go at the fixed dates.
Warm regards
