ISKSAA FORTIS DELHI TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2024
It was a great experience to be a part of ISKSAA. I am indebted to Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj (president) and Dr. Lalit Maini (chairman) of ISKSAA, who gave me the platform to learn from good arthroplasty and arthroscopy surgeons.
I would like to thank the executives of ISKSAA for granting me ISKSAA FORTIS-DELHI TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIPS 2024.
During my two week observership, I spent 2 week (16th to 30th june 2024)in Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, Delhi under guidance of Dr. Gurinder Bedi.
Dr. Gurinder Bedi is kindhearted, humble, friendly and a great teacher and an excellent clinician. He is president of Delhi Orthopaedics Association. During my observership at Fortis, I had an opportunity to sit at outpatient clinic with him. I had seen a wide variety of cases like sports injury patients, OA knee patients, spine patients, foot and ankle patients etc. I had always worked in a government hospital, where there is a lot of rush in OPD, and we hardly get time to learn good doctor-patient interaction skills. Apart from improving on my clinical examination of various cases, I had learned the skills of interacting with a patient in a better way. Dr. Bedi also organises, seminar every Wednesday and we had discussions of various difficult cases and plan for their management. I also had the opportunity to assist Dr. Bedi in knee arthroplasty and knee arthroscopy surgery. I had learned a few good tricks of knee arthroplasty and arthroscopy from him. I m also thankful to other members of Dr. Bedi team viz. Dr. Vishwadeep Sharma, Dr. Shuvendu and Dr. Anand Prajapati . Dr. Vishwadeep taught me tips and tricks of arthroscopic repair of rotator cuff tear/bankart and also arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and meniscus root repair . Dr. Shuvendu Roy was master of foot and ankle with trauma and was the most cool headed person .He taught me master technique of surgery of pes planus (Flexible and rigid),pes cavus ,calcaneovalgus and calcaneovarus deformity. I also got the opportunity to observe pedicle screw fixation and laminectomy done by Dr Gurinder Bedi and learned minimally invasive technique of posterior spinal fixation.
I also liked the Radiology department and eagerness of radiologists to discuss the scans with Dr Bedi and Team and also help us understand the sections and cuts of various MRI’s and CT’s.
At the end, after a good overall exposure in the field of Arthroplasty, Arthroscopy & Sports medicine and Trauma at Fortis, Vasant kunj, New Delhi, I returned back with a lot of memories, experience and support of Dr Gurinder Bedi and Team.
I would again like to thank Dr Lalit Maini and Dr Pushpinder Bajaj for giving me this opportunity for clinical exposure in the fields of Arthroplasty and Arthroscopy and looking forward for more such oppurtunities at upcoming ISKSAA Fellowship programmes.
