ISKSAA BIRMINGHAM PATELLO FEMORAL TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2022
I was selected to be a part of the ISKSAA Birmingham patellofemoral travelling fellowship in 2023 from 29th May to 12 June 2023 and am extremely grateful to Dr Pushpinder Bajaj, Dr Lalit Maini and the other members of ISKSAA for giving me an opportunity to be a part of this enriching experience
The fellowship was a 2 week rotation in Queen Elizabeth hospital, Royal Orthopaedic hospital and Good Hope hospital under our coordinator Mr Tanveer Ashraf, Mr Omar Alanie, Mr Tamer Sweed and Mr Tarek Boutefnouchet.
Queen Elizabeth hospital is a tertiary care centre offering both trauma and elective services while the Royal Orthopaedic hospital is an elective orthopaedic hub.
Mr Tanveer Ashraf is a master of his field and is a very kind and helpful person. He went out of the way to ensure that we get a full exposure to elective as well as trauma lists . He discussed cases with us in depth and provided us a new perspective to both preoperative and postoperative care.
The other consultants were very helpful and skilled as well and very considerate in including us in the discussions and pre operative planning. All the consultants also gave a warm and friendly touch to this experience by organising a fellows dinner for us .We got good exposure of knee arthroscopy and plasty cases along with patello femoral cases including trochleoplasty and replacement.
This 2 week experience was an amazing experience as it exposed us to the working of the hospital and patient care abroad and there is much that we take away from this experience.
