ISKSAA TEESIDE UK TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2024
Respected sir,
I'm writing to thank you for giving me the chance to take part in the North Tees International Traveling Fellowship in the UK. I feel honoured to have been selected as a recipient of this prestigious fellowship and it has been an amazing experience.
Throughout my journey, I have had the chance to learn from world-renowned experts in the field of orthopaedics. In particular, Dr. Rajesh Nanda Sir, who mentored me during my tenure, is a very humble person. From the beginning to the end, when I applied for the fellowship, he was always encouraging. My knowledge and abilities have expanded as a result of being exposed to the various methods, techniques and practices used by dr Nanda sir, dr Jeavons sir and dr Liow sir.
I got to see a descent number of surgeries covering the majority shoulder & upper limb procedure like
- Rotator cuff repair (using the Opus knotless suture anchor fixation system by dr nanda sir and open loop system technique by dr liow sir),
- Trapezoidectomy for O.A. 1st cmc joint,
- Trigger finger- A1 pulley release,
- Dupuytren contracture release,
- Revision stage 2 elbow replacement for infected elbow arthroplasty with antibiotic spacer in situ,
- Elbow hemiarthroplasty for distal humerus comminuted fracture with OA changes of elbow joint.
- SLAP repair,
- Superior plica of shoulder - excision,
- PASTA lesion,
- Kissing lesion of shoulder,
- Subscapularis repair,
- Subacromial Decompression,
- Acromioplasty,
- Biceps tenotomy,
- Adhesive capsulitis releases,
- AC joint excision,
- Distal biceps tendon repair,
- Capitellum fracture fixation,
- Total shoulder Arthroplasty,
- Proximal humerus fracture fixation &
- Reverse Shoulder Arthroplasty (deltoid splitting approach)for comminuted proximal humerus fracture.
I can now use these newfound abilities in my own practise. My wide range of experiences during this fellowship have helped me better understand the difficulties faced by orthopaedic surgeons across this part of globe, and I am confident that this will make me a better surgeon in the years to come.
My sincere gratitude goes out to the ISKSAA Fellowship Committee, Dr. Pushpinder Sir and Dr. Lalit Sir for believing in my abilities and providing me with this invaluable opportunity. I also want to express my gratitude to my hosts and mentors, who have welcomed me into their practices and have been so kind with their time and knowledge. This fellowship has been an incredible learning experience and I will always treasure the memories I have made along the way. I want to thank you one more for your support and I'm looking forward to continuing my journey in the field of orthopaedic.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Paramjit singh
