ISKSAA Membership No. 1137
I would like to begin by thanking Dr. Pushipinder Bajaj (president, prof. Jegan krishnan, ISKSAA and IMRI for awarding me with this fellowship, which is my first and had been a great opportunity to pursue my greatest interests in orthopeedics.
The purpose of my visit to Adelaide in oct-nov 2017, Australia was to gain experience in clinical orthopaedics with emphasis on learning basic arthroplasty/arthroscopic techniques of the knee and shoulder. Although I had earlier worked in tertiary trauma center for a longtime this was my first opportunity to work in arthroplasty/scopy unit.
On arrival at Adelaide me and my mate vivek bansal had a warm welcome from our Chief fellowship supervisor prof. Jegan Krishnan. Professor immediately made sure that we felt at home. Thanks to him we had a wonderful and fruitful academic feast for the next four weeks. A Special thanks to Mrs. Sarah and Mr. Nick for their hospitality.
Over the next four weeks, We visited four different hospitals across Adelaide city and trained under 6 different wonderful surgeons, who had remarkably down to earth persona. every surgeon made sure that we had greater understanding of the surgeries that they were performing ,often taking time in the middle of surgeries to give us their perspective and pearls for successful surgery. Not only did they train us in arthroplasty and arthroscopy , they also made sure we had a great time during our stay at Adelaide. I wish to thank all the six SURGEONS 1) PROF. JEGAN, 2) DR. LING,3) DR. DARREN WATERS, 4) DR. MATHEW LIPTAK, 5) DR. AMAN SOOD AND 6) DR. MARIO PENTA for their time and effort in educating us. My special thanks to DR.MARIO PENTA who was so keen in teaching us every single detail of surgery and took time out of his busy schedule to join us for the fair well party and almost missed attending another meeting just to be with me and my mate. He also made sure that we visited the Adelaide oval to watch a game of cricket there. I have no words to thank Prof.Jegan Krishnan for all the help provided for my professional.
Besides our time at Adelaide,, I travelled to cairns(queensland), sunshine coast, Brisbane, goldcoast, Sydney and Melbourne during the weekends, getting to know the beautiful australian cities and its vast geographical spread.
I personally recommend this fellowship all aspiring junior consultants interested in arthroplasty and arthroscopy.
I wish to convey my special thanks and kudos to Dr. Puspinder Bajaj (ISKSAA president ) and his team for providing this wonderful opportunity to me suggest the same fellowship to all aspiring junior consultant.
