ISKSAA BIOTEK TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2022
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj, Dr. Lalit Maini and Biotek for
providing me the opportunity to learn and develop my knowledge and skills in arthroscopy through the
ISKSAA BIOTEK TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2023.
I have been very lucky to work under one of the pioneers of Arthroscopy in the country, Dr. David Rajan
sir. His clinical acumen as well as surgical skills have been an eye opener to me. His easy approach for
advanced shoulder and knee arthroscopy was worth witnessing. I could not resist myself in appraisal of
Dr. Santosh Sahanand sir a wonderful surgeon and cheerful person. Under him I got to observe several
knee arthroscopy procedures like ACL reconstructions by PBTB, Hamstring grafts, various meniscus repair
techniques, ALL reconstruction and Mosaicplasty. Dr. Shyam Sundar sir is also a great surgeon and very
cheerful man. Shoulder arthroscopy has always been a difficult subject for me. Observing Shyam sir
perform various shoulder arthroscopic surgeries like Arthroscopic supraspinatus repair, subscapularis
repair, subacromial decompression, various types of biceps long head tenodeses and bankart repair with
remplissage has really cleared my concepts. All the fellows and staff were also very friendly and
helpful in every regard.
The CME and audit on Tuesday and Thursday were a good learning session and taught me about graft
harvesting, acl tunnel placements and meniscus repair techniques. Overall, it was a great experience for
me working here as an Observer for 1 week, i.e., from 13/02/23 to 18/02/23 and I got to learn so many
new techniques and I acquired several new skills during my observership. I thank all the mentors and
ISKSAA for giving me such a memorable experience for my observership.
Regards,
Dr. Swapnil Date
