ISKSAA IMRI TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2017

ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA

21st July to 17th August


On the offset I would like to thank Dr. Lalit Maini and Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj for providing me this opportunity for pursuing this esteemed fellowship programme in Adelaide, Australia under the guidance of Prof. Jegan Krishnan and team.

Upon my arrival in Adelaide, I was picked up from the airport by Mr. Nick and he dropped me to the accommodation provided to me during this fellowship which was fully furnished and at a very nice location with abundant of greenery and Belair national park just few hundred metres away. Dr. Jegan invited us to his house for lunch and he made sure that we were comfortable and introduced to all surgeon we had to visit during the fellowship programme.

Next four weeks, We visited four different hospitals across Adelaide city and trained under different wonderful surgeons, All the specialist made sure that we understand each and every minor step involved in surgery that they were performing, by taking time amidst the surgery and proving their perspective and pearls of wisdom for better outcome . Not only did they train us in arthroplasty and arthroscopy, they also made sure we had a great time during our stay at Adelaide. I wish to thank all the surgeons PROF. JEGAN, DR. LING, DR. DARREN WATERS, DR. MATHEW LIPTAK, DR. AMAN SOOD, DR. MARIO PENTA and DR. SUNIL REDDY for their time and effort in educating us .We were provided a list of surgeries beforehand posted for coming week in various hospitals like Ashford Private hospital, Flinders Private Hospital, Western Memorial Hospital. We were fortunate to come across vast variety of cases. We were provided the option of choosing the hospital/surgeon to visit from the list on any particular day. Coming few weeks with wide array of procedures ranging from TKR, THR, unicondylar knee replacement, arthroscopic ACL and PCL reconstructions, meniscal repairs, MPFL repair, shoulder arthroscopy like bankart's repair and rotator cuff single and double row repairs.
The Weekends were the most awaited time for us to explore many fascinating tourist spots in chilling weather even though we missed out on kangaroo island tour due to unavoidable weather conditions. But we made up for the loss by takingtrip to Sydney and Melbourne and Victoria harbour during weekendsOn the final day a lunch was organized by Prof. Jegan and his team to felicitate us at a seaside restaurant. It was a warm heart touching gesture from team. A Special thanks to Mrs. Sarah and Mr. Nick for their hospitality
Thisesteemed fellowshipprovided me the opportunity to enhance and polish my surgical skills related to arthroscopy and arthroplasty. Thevaluable interaction with various orthopaedic surgeons of south Australia who are experts in their field of work assisted me in fine tuning my surgical techniques and complete credit is bestowed to ISKSAA team for providing me this golden opportunity
Once again I would thank Dr. Lalit Maini sir and Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj sir for giving me this splendid opportunity under ISKSAA. I have been benefited by this fellowship tremendously. I hope my association with ISKSAA will flourish and look forward to contribute positively to ISKSAA in future.
