ISKSAA MOHALI FORTIS TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2024

Thank you Dr. PUSHPINDER BAJAJ sir for giving me the opportunity to learn and improve my skills under Dr. MANIT ARORA sir through the ISKSAA Mohali Fortis travelling fellowship.

I am blessed and honored to have gotten this opportunity to work with Dr. MANIT ARORA sir. I thank him wholeheartedly for the great experience during my stay in Mohali Fortis hospital as a fellow.

My fellowship started on 10th June 2024 and concluded on 23rd June 2024.Though it was a very short period of 14 days, but I have witnessed a huge number of operative procedures in this period.

As I started on 10th June ( Monday) which was an OPD day, I was shaken by the huge number of patients waiting at OPD.Though it was an OPD day, I witnessed 4 Arthroscopy surgeries too which was a bonus for me.

In 2 weeks span, I have witnessed around 42 arthroscopy surgeries of knee & Shoulder including Reverse shoulder arthroplasty. This included -

• ACL RECONSTRUCTION,
• PCL RECONSTRUCTION
• MULTI LIGAMENTS RECONSTRUCTION
• ACL REPAIR
• MENISCAL REPAIR
• REVISION ACL RECONSTRUCTION
• LATERAL EXTRAARTICULAR TENODESIS
• OSTEOCHONDRAL AUTOGRAFT TRANSFER SYSTEM (OATS)
• BANKARTS REPAIR WITH HILL SACHS,
• SLAP TEAR,
• LATERJET PROCEDURE
• ROTATOR CUFF REPAIR,
• MPFL RECONSTRUCTION,
• REVERSE SHOULDER ARTHROPLASTY

Most importantly, Dr. Manit Arora sir discussed all the cases with fellows preoperatively , intraoperatively and postoperatively and used to explain the steps intraoperatively. Post surgery, we used to have good discussion surrounded by evidence based medicine.

On Fridays before OPD , he used to start the day by clearing all our doubts in the subject.

The working atmosphere was great and so were my co fellows. Apart from orthopaedics,I did have some great discussions about the food, places to travel, career guidance. He is such an amazing person and a surgeon who creates a positive aura around him and such an energetic man.

I would highly recommend all the young surgeons who would want to learn and operate well in field of arthroscopy and sports medicine to visit Dr. Manit Arora. He is the surgeon of great caliber and an awesome human being.

I sincerely thank ISKSAA team for motivating me to set my goals higher and become a better surgeon and for giving this opportunity to work under Dr. Manit Arora sir.
