Duration – 4 weeks ( 4.05.2015 - 27.05.2015 ) under Prof. Jegan Krishnan
It gives me immense pleasure in preparing this report about ISKSAA- IMRI fellowship at Flinders medical centre , Adelaide, Australia. I would like to thank ISKSAA and its management for giving me this opportunity to attend this highly academic program and great surgical exposure.
On arrival at Adelaide airport, we were greeted by Mr. Donald Bramwell, who not only picked us from airport, but also assisted us with various arrangements at our accommodation. He made sure that we are comfortable with the stay during our fellowship.
It was a 4 weeks fellowship program from 4th May to 27th may 2015 under the supervision of Prof Jegan Krishnan who is a highly skilled and recognised surgeon worldwide.
During my fellowship, I was fortunate to gain exposure and knowledge of various shoulder and knee arthroscopy and arthroplasty procedures like Navigated Total knee replacements and Open/Arthroscopic shoulder procedures.
I was lucky to have a very good co- fellow Dr. Prahalad Singhi, who being a senior to me, helped me in understanding various procedures
We also got an opportunity to work with various eminent surgeons like Prof Gregory Bain, Dr. Matthew Liptak and Prof Graham Mercer. Everyday we used to have open discussions about surgical cases and procedures and got to learn many new things from them. Everyone was keen in discussing their cases with us and explained it in a simpler way to us.
We used to attend various clinical meetings in their institute which helped us in understanding their work culture and take part in case discussions.
We also got an opportunity to work and publish an arthroscopic technique with Prof Gregory Bain.
I feel that this fellowship added a lot to my knowledge in Arthoscopy and Arthroplasty and which will help me in my future practice.
I would like to thank everyone linked to ISKSAA and Flinders, for being so helpful and caring.
My sincere thanks to Prof Krishnan for making it memorable and for taking good care of us.
