ISKSAA ABERDEEN TRAVELLING FELLOWSHIP 2017
First off, I would like to thank the organisers and committee members of Isksaa 2017 for giving me a fine platform to further hone my surgical skills. It was a wonderful experience to travel to Aberdeen, Scotland and train with Dr. Kapil Kumar. Thank you Dr. Kapil for inviting me for the Aberdeen Shoulder meet where I got to interact witha few of the finest shoulder and upper limb surgeons from Scotland. It was great to observe the latest advances in shoulder surgeries at the Woodend Hospital. The fellow doctors and the support staff were very hospitable and kind.
I got to learn recent advances and techniques in primary shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder arthroplasty, bankarts repair, rotator cuff repair, and SLAP lesions. I also observed a few rare cases namely; conversion of primary shoulder to reverse shoulder arthroplasty, posterior labral avulsion repair, biceps tendon avulsion and total elbow replacement.
My trip to The Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Albyn Hospital with Dr. Kapil was extremely eventful, he is such a dynamic person, explains everything so well and in depth, always enlightening his fellow students with his mistakes, learnings and experiences.
