First of all let me take this opportunity to thank Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj and Dr. LalitMaini in providing me with this fellowship training which has paved a way into the construction of my arthroscopic knowledge, surgical skills and clearing of many doubts in this field. The overall cases we had in the list were

  1. Total hip arthroplasty - unilateral and bilateral
  2. Total knee arthroplasty - unilateral and bilateral
  3. Revisiontotal knee arthroplasty
  4. OATS technique for osteochondral defect
  5. ACL reconstruction using various constructs
  6. Arthroscopic shoulder rotator cuff repair
  7. Arthroscopic shoulder bankart repair
  8. Mini incision open bankart repair
  9. Arthroscopic decompression for frozen shoulder
  10. Live arthroscopy and replacement workshops of shoulder pathologies in the weekend conference

Starting off, on January 19th we had gone to SantParmanand hospital and under the supervision of Dr. ShekharSrivastav we were able to see a case of arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and arthroscopic Bankart repair. Following this we went to Apollo hospital were we saw a bilateral total knee arthroplasty done by Dr. Atul Mishra.

On January 20th, we went to Indian spine injury centre, where we had cases of hip arthroplasty, knee arthroplasty, mini incision Bankart repair and a congenital dysplasia of the hip.

On january 21st, we were taken to Apollo hospital where Dr. Kharbanda took a personal interest in teaching us the steps and pearls in doing a total hip replacement. Following that we had seen a case of arthroscopic bankart repair by Dr. Tandon.

January 22nd was a very informative and fruitful day where in Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj taught us the step by step reconstruction of ACL arthroscopically using hamstringgraft and an aperture fixation - advantages and disadvantages. Following this we went to the sports injury centre, where Dr. Deepak Chowdary and Dr. Deepak Joshi threw us into the world of Arthroscopic rotator cuff and Bankart repair.

January 23rd, 24th and 25th witnessed the 3rd Biennial shoulder and elbow workshop and conference where a plethora of eminent faculty showed us the various techniques and discussed the various pros and cons related to surgical intervention of shoulder replacement surgeries, Arthroscopic bankart repair, bony bankart repair and Rotator cuff injuries.

On 27th January, we went to Maulanaazad medical college, where Dr. Vinod Kumar taught us about OATS technique. He had also done an arthroscopic bankart repair and acl reconstruction.

The next day, Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj performed an arthroscopic ACl reconstruction using bone patellar tendon graft and it was the first time we saw an acl reconstruction using bone patellar tendon graft. It was very informative he made sure that we had the whole procedure clear and fresh in our mind which could be reproduced by us without a second question.

Following this we went to Maulana Azad medical college where Prof. LalitMaini performed a bilateral total knee replacement, a total hip replacement and an acetabular fracture reconstruction using recon plate. He taught us regarding the importance of templating and how to do it. Step by step he cleared our doubts and taught us a lot many things regarding replacement surgeries of the hip and knee.

The next day we went to Sir Gangaram hospital where Dr. Prateek Gupta performed an acl reconstruction and taught us the importance of rehabilitation and accelerated rehabilitation in the field of sports medicine. Following this we went to AIMS hospital where Dr. Yadav performed a bilateral total hip arthroplasty.

Lastly we again visited Sports injury centre where Dr. Vineeth Jain taught us about the different landmarks for rotator cuff fixation and also taught us regarding different fixation instruments concerning ACL reconstruction.

The fellowship trainingprogramme was an overall education and informative feast. The accommodation, transport and food resources were taken care of, perfectly under the supervision of Prof. LalitMaini. I had a comfortable stay in the Maulanaazad medical college guest house and daily pick up and drop was by Mr. Tarun.

I thank all the pillars of ISKSAA for providing me this opportunity to build myself in the field of arthroscopy and arthroplasty. A special thanks to Dr. Pushpinder Bajaj and Prof. LalitMaini for granting me this fellowship training programme and being there always for us.
