At the outset I would like to thanks sincerely Dr. Lalit Maini and Dr. P. S. Bajaj for selecting me for this fellowship. This fellowship exposed me to the most kind, generous, caring and excellent shoulder surgeon Dr. Jaap Willems.

Our 3wks fellowship programme was meticulously planned. First two wks we were in DC LAIRESSE KLINIEK in AMSTERDAM and the last wk Dr. WILLEMS took us to UTRECHT about 100 km from AMSTERDAM for arthroplasty and arthroscopic cadaveric course. This course was started by DR. WILLEMS and it attracted participants from 21 different countries.

During clinics he taught us method of examination, ordering investigation, arriving at provisional diagnosis and decission making. He also taught us how to read shoulder MRI. In operating room we scrubbed with him and assisted in varieties of open and arthrosopic shoulder surgeries such as rotator cuff, bankart repair, laterjet procedure, LD transfer and shoulder arthroplasty. He also gave videos of all the procedure he demonstrated during our two wk stay. He also arranged for ankle arthroscopy and knee surgery which was nicely demonstrated by his colleagues. We also got the opportunity to visit his former hospital OLVG where we got the chance to assist DR. DEREK VAN Duerzen.

Last wk in UTRECHT was exhaustive but really fruitful where we got the opportunity of interacting with all renowned surgeon coming from different part of world.Lectures were very informative and attractive. Cadaveric workshop gave us the opportunity to perform all sorts of open and arthroscopic surgery under the abled guidance of faculty members.

Once again I would like to thanks DR. WILLEMS for all his effort in making our stay comfortable and memorable.He treated us like our parents treats us.He arranged a well furnished, centrally located apartment and provided us with so called OV CHIPKART for local transportation. We also enjoyed canal ride in DR. WILLEMS boat. All the staff members were very supportive and friendly.

DR. P. S. BAJAJ and DR. L. Maini have put a herculian effort in providing training to young orthopods and developing orthopaedics in INDIA. I hope ISKSAA continues its activities in full swing.
